Our Journey.....

Tomfoolery Wines is a family owned and operated boutique winery, vineyard and accommodation located in the North East of the famous Barossa Valley.

We grow grapes and make premium wines from small and historic vineyards. Our aim is to craft wines expressing the unique flavours from the special sites that fruit is sourced from.

The style of the wines is aromatic, floral and structured with many layers of depth and intensity. A minimalistic approach is central to the Tomfoolery wine making philosophy incorporating traditional and modern techniques which includes indigenous yeast fermentation, whole bunch, basket pressing, spontaneous secondary fermentation and no filtration or fining.

Ben Chipman Wine Maker and Owner of Tomfoolery Wines was part of the Rockford Wines academy where he worked under Robert O’Callaghan and Chris Ringland. Ben later accompanied Chris to help with his special project in Spain where Ben fell in love with the old world of wine and the Variety Tempranillo.

Then in 2011 Ben & Sarah purchased the home of Tomfoolery Wines, located in Light Pass. The site included amazing old vineyards dating back to the 40’s, an old cottage which is now the B&B Guest house and the potential for much more. In the years to come wineries were built and renovations were complete to open our Cellar Door, fully renovated Bed & Breakfast accommodation and state of the art wine making facility.
